Present 3 of the author&#8217;s key points in the reading. Ground each point in a specific paragraph that you find quite important to the author&#8217;s overall argument. Explain why you think each point is important to the overall argument.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>4. Share your analysis of the argument and the points you have highlighted. You should make at least 2 solid points of your own here. If you are not sure how to analyze a text, here are some analytical questions to consider (you do not have to select these questions to guide your analysis &#8211; they are only offered to help clarify what constitutes analytical thinking):<\/div>\n<div><span style=\"color: var(--color-1); font-variant-caps: inherit;\">How does the reading help us better understand the way society works?<\/span><\/div>\n<div>How does the argument relate to hegemonic or counter-hegemonic ideas about this social issue?<\/div>\n<div>How does this author&#8217;s argument contrast or compare with previous writings we&#8217;ve read on related topics?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>5. Connect to a contemporary issue or debate: include a news article (summarize it for us), Youtube clip or other media story on the reading&#8217;s topic, and share your understanding of that media in light of what you have learned from the assigned reading.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;you will need to submit a 5 page paper (1200 words) addressing points 1-5 above in more formal written format.
