Discuss how this issue may be influenced by social determinants across the micro, meso and macro levels.\n<\/div>\n<div>An A Essay will have met the following criteria (at a minimum):\n<\/div>\n<div>Q1:\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tClearly identified three of these factors, defined them, and shown how they are interrelated (if they are). This must be done with an appropriate level of depth to the topic.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tChosen clear examples from empirical research to demonstrate how these factors influence health.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tBeen able to relate the topic being discussed to broader conceptual and\/or theoretical issues discussed in the course.\n<\/div>\n<div>Q2:\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tChosen and clearly identified, defined, and presented which health issue is being explored. This must be done with an appropriate level of depth to the topic.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tChosen clear examples from empirical research to demonstrate knowledge of how\/why it is important to evaluate health across scales.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tBeen able to relate the topic being discussed to broader conceptual and\/or theoretical issues discussed in the course.\n<\/div>\n<div>Q3:\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tClearly defined and explained health inequalities and what this means in terms of social contexts.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tClearly identified, defined, and presented what is meant by health interventions, how and where the identified interventions have occurred, and who the target populations\/issues have been. An A paper will have a clear and concise but in-depth explanation to these issues.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tBeen able to relate the topic being discussed to broader conceptual and\/or theoretical issues discussed in the course.\n<\/div>\n<div>ALL A Essays will meet or exceed the following criteria (at a minimum)\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tExamples will come from core course readings at a minimum (this is in-line with a C-level paper). An A essay will include optional readings and beyond to demonstrate deeper knowledge and demonstrated exploration of the topic being addressed.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tExamples must provide detailed explanation, background, depth and relate them clearly to the issue being evaluated.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tKey concepts from the course will be discussed clearly and with demonstrated proficiency.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tAn A essay will be able to relate these factors to other critical topics discussed in the course including understanding different scales of health, broader issues and theories around social determinants of health.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tExpress original ideas, thoughts, and analysis of the topic.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tThe essay will be well written, free from typos, grammatical errors, have a clear thesis statement and introductory paragraph, and follow a logical flow.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tAn A essay will keep on target of the topic at hand, whilst demonstrating depth of understanding and exploration.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tFollow the instructions for the essay as presented in the course handbook.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tMeet the other criteria in the grading matrix below at a high level.\n<\/div>\n<div>The following key elements should be met in the essay and will be marked using the University\u2019s Common Code of Assessment (as shown below and is offered in great depth in your course handbook):\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tCritically analyse and evaluate existing knowledge on that topic, through a review of relevant literature\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tFormulate coherent answers to the essay questions\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tIdentify an appropriate research strategy and method, taking due account of any practical, political and ethical issues affecting the conduct of their research\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tCollect and analyse appropriate reading materials (academic journals, books, articles, white papers, etc.)\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tDraw appropriate conclusions relevant to the questions and material.\n<\/div>\n<div>\u2022\tWrite up a logically structured and properly referenced research report.\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The course will be formally assessed through ONE essay (3000 words, excluding the bibliography, with no tables or figures) Choose one of the following health issues: sexual health, depression, smoking, alcohol consumption or infectious diseases (please only choose one infectious disease).
