The essay and seminar analyze the same theme, but should be presented in the most effective way for each format.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;You will record your presentation using Video Note or another video recording tool.  Imagine during your presentation you are presenting to a room of other students who have also read the novel.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;For this assignment, choose one of the following themes:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-The Effects of War<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Women\u2019s Rights<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Power and Inhumanity&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-The Importance of Education<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The essay should thoroughly explain the way the theme is expressed in the novel with a variety of textual examples and your analysis of how this theme is developed in a variety of ways.  This essay should be a minimum of 1000 words and follow MLA formatting guidelines.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The presentation should explain a variety of ways this theme is developed throughout the novel.  This should include:<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Important Cultural\/Historical Information<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Quotations from the novel<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Commentary on what these quotations contribute to the theme<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-At least one outside source from research<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>-Discussion Questions (These do not have to actually be answered in your presentation, but should be thoughtfully crafted to stimulate discussion in a classroom)<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Your final submission should include: 1) Your Essay; 2) Video presentation that includes your visual component (PowerPoint or other presentation tool); 3) Works Cited page in MLA format.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Let your teacher know via email once you have selected a theme to explore.
