This is a common practice. It is not supported by the research and theory behind bilingual education and is different than translanguaging&#8211;which typically acknowledges students&#8217; bilingual repertoire. But, I think we need to consider as a part of the reality of bilingual education in NY schools today.<\/p>\n<div>\n<\/div>\n<div>I did hear a bilingual program director comment last week that everytime she walked into a bilingual classroom all she heard was English. This is the danger with the 2 languages all the time approach.
