Abstract: Depression is a common psychiatric disorder, with an estimated lifetime prevalence of 10% in the general population. Black males are a particularly vulnerable group affected by depression, especially due to lack of resources living in these rural areas. There can be several factors that influence what causes depression in these homes. The purpose of this paper is to explore does living in rural communities\u2019 cause depression in black males ages 14-17 and does it have to do with economic status and\/or income.<\/p>\n
