(All three steps are part of the introduction; the thesis comes at the end.) 4 )Body paragraphs develop the thesis with sub-claims (topic sentences) and provide evidence from the poem (usually quoted passages) to support the sub-claim. Body paragraphs may also use quotes from literary critics, but these MUST be cited.
