(<em>For help with this process, see the Module 1: Week 1 presentation, \u201cDownloading Financial Statements from the SEC EDGAR Database.\u201d<\/em>)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Create an Excel workbook, including data for your chosen company as follows:<\/p>\n<p>o The <u><strong>1st tab<\/strong><\/u> (worksheet) in your Financial Statement Analysis Template must be labeled <strong>Company Information<\/strong>. The following information must be included:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Company Name and ticker symbol<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Industry<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Products or services offered<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Major competitors<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 An example of this tab is provided in Exhibit A.<\/p>\n<p>o The <u><strong>2nd tab<\/strong><\/u> in your Financial Statement Analysis Template must be labeled <strong>Historical Income Statements<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Include the latest <u><em>three years<\/em><\/u> based on SEC filings.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Ensure that the worksheet includes a header with:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Company Name<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Name (Income Statements)<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Dates<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Denomination level ($s in millions or thousands, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>o The <u><strong>3rd tab<\/strong><\/u> in your Financial Statement Analysis Template must be labeled <strong>Historical Balance Sheets.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Include the latest <u><em>three years<\/em><\/u> based on SEC (10-K) filings. (<em>Note: Some 10-Ks only provided 2 years of balance sheet data.<\/em> <em>You may need to download the second most recent 10-K for your company in order to obtain 3 years of balance sheet data.)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Ensure that the worksheet includes a header with:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Company Name<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Name&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Dates<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Denomination level ($s in millions or thousands, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 A partial balance sheet example is provided in Exhibit B.<\/p>\n<p>o The <u><strong>4th tab<\/strong><\/u> in your Financial Statement Analysis Template must be labeled <strong>Historical Statement of Cash Flows.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Include the latest <u><em>three years<\/em><\/u> based on SEC (10-K) filings.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Make sure that the Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flows Statement tie in as follows:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Net Income from Income Statement agrees with Net Income on the Statement of Cash Flows.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Ending Cash Balance from Statement of Cash Flows agrees with Cash in the Balance Sheet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 Ensure that the worksheet includes a header with:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Company Name<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Name&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Financial Statement Dates<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Denomination level ($s in millions or thousands, etc.)<\/p>\n<p>o Other instructions:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a7 The Excel workbook should be professionally formatted. Professional formatting includes:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 All numbers are formatted similarly. The use of decimals, commas for thousands, and other formatting is consistent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Dollar signs are included in the first and last numbers of each column.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 Subtotals and totals are preceded by a single underline. Totals are followed by a double underline.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7 All extraneous information is removed from the spreadsheet.
