For this paper, you will be analyzing the way individuals present themselves in online environments.<\/p>\n

1. Before you begin writing, identify at least three different social network sites where you can access the personal pages of people on them. Try to find three very different profiles. Bookmark the pages. These can be people you know, or others you find. It’s up to you!<\/span><\/div>\n

2. Bring up each personal page. Write at least five descriptors about the person they see on the page, and indicate on a scale of 1-10 (10=highest) whether you would like to meet the person.<\/span><\/div>\n

3. Discuss the various ways the people you identified present themselves to others on their social media. Is it effective? Ineffective? How do the strategies observed compare to strategies you use yourself? How does this connect back to the concept of face?<\/span><\/div>\n

You will then present what you have observed about these profiles in a 1-2 page essay. Make sure to connect back to concepts presented in this chapter when discussing your evaluation of the online profiles. Make sure your paper has an intro and conclusion.<\/span><\/div>\n
