Research the health systems of Canada, Great Britain, and Germany. For each, compare and contrast the following to the United States health system.

- Do individuals /the government/employers pay and how?
- Is health insurance required? Is it private or public insurance? Who pays?
- Are the providers and hospitals public or private?
- Are patients free to choose providers? Is a referral needed for specialists?
- How are providers and hospitals paid?
- The financing and delivery of public and private health services
- List some public health agencies
- Who funds those public health agencies?
- What public health services do the agencies provide?
- Government intervention in healthcare and public health
- Are there government regulations on providers, hospitals, and pharmaceuticals?
- Has the government done anything to control health care costs?
- Has the government done anything to improve the quality of care?
You can organize your answers by country (and discuss 1, 2, and 3 for each county) or by question (and discuss each country respectively). For question 3, you may need to find material outside of the course (be sure to reference outside materials appropriately).
