For this assignment, you will be expanding your knowledge about a particular area of interest for your final project and developing your personal response to the research findings over the last few weeks. You will also begin to develop some creative recommendations for addressing relevant problems in a particular community. Please continue to work with the topic you identified in the prior weeks unless your received guidance from your instructor to do otherwise. A change in topic is not recommended at this point.
First, you must locate one credible video source that discusses your chosen topic. While locating videos about a particular topic can be relatively simple on the Internet, what may be more challenging is making sure that the source is credible. Recall that when considering credibility, the CRAAP test (yes, I know that sounds funny) can be helpful: CRAAP is an acronym for Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose
Once you locate a credible video, review it and take note of key information. Then, in one paragraph, please offer:
- A short description of the video
- A reason why you think it is valuable for understanding your topic better
- Why do you think it is a credible source
- Include a citation in either APA or MLA format for your peer-reviewed article
Second, you must develop a personal response to the research you have collected thus far, including creative recommendations for addressing relevant problems in a particular community. When you think of “community”, this may be small, such as a family or neighborhood, or it may be larger such as a broad socioeconomic class or cultural group (you choose what feels most appropriate based on your topic and interest). This section is your opportunity to use creative and innovative thinking but also to use research to support your ideas (you may use the research you already located or integrate new sources, but make sure you cite them as appropriate).
Your paper should include two full paragraphs (5-8 sentences) and is due by Day 7 of this week (11:59 pm EST).
Note: Please be aware that weekly assignments are not accepted in Canvas after 11:59 pm Eastern time on Sunday nights. Late assignments will not be accepted for credit unless you have contacted me prior to the due date/time with a valid legal or medical reason. I do make exceptions if the situation warrants it, but this is not common practice. Please plan accordingly.
