Your final paper will be a detailed analysis of your role-plays and class discussions throughout the semester.
- Professional Strengths of Role-Playing: Talk about how effective you were with using the skills discussed throughout the semester. You can also elaborate on the interventions you provided that you noticed worked well. You can use the feedback provided to you by your group for ideas in this area.
- Professional Weaknesses of Each Role-Play: Talk about areas that you believe you can improve on. You can talk about specific skills that you feel you might need more practice in and use moments during each role-play that you feel you were not as effective as you could have been. You can also use the feedback given to you by your partner for ideas in this area.
- Mezzo/Macro Analysis – Describe why it is important to have a macro/systemic approach and a micro approach to interpersonal counseling. How do you think you can incorporate an anti-oppressive or multicultural social justice model into your interpersonal counseling skills?
- Future Professional Development: Talk about areas that you would like to develop during your journey of becoming a human service professional. Identify possible avenues you would like to explore whether it is with yourself and your journey with growth and development or professionally with the population or careers you would like to consider. How can you be an accountable practitioner/professional now or in the future?
This final paper should demonstrate your knowledge of the readings and comprehension of the course with a systemic lens and interpersonal skills. It should also touch on your future self and how you can be an accountable practitioner in any field you work in. Lastly, what would you like to explore for your future self? Do some research on possible populations or careers you might want to pursue.
